I'm struggling with integration problems in JEE Advanced. Can someone share effective strategies and resources for mastering calculus?
Here are my specific challenges:
1. Integration by parts - when to use and how to choose u and dv
2. Trigonometric substitutions - they confuse me a lot
3. Definite integrals with complex limits
Any recommended books or video lectures would be really helpful. I've been using RD Sharma but feel like I need more practice problems.
Thanks in advance!

Great question! Here's my structured approach for JEE Advanced calculus:
**For Integration by Parts:**
Use LIATE rule - Logarithmic, Inverse trig, Algebraic, Trigonometric, Exponential
The function that comes first becomes 'u'.
**For Trigonometric Substitutions:**
- √(a² - x²) → use x = a sin θ
- √(a² + x²) → use x = a tan θ
- √(x² - a²) → use x = a sec θ
**Recommended Resources:**
1. "Problems in Calculus of One Variable" by I.A. Maron
2. Mohit Tyagi's YouTube channel for concept clarity
3. Previous year JEE Advanced papers (last 10 years)
Practice at least 20-30 problems daily. Start with easier ones and gradually increase difficulty.

Thank you so much! The LIATE rule explanation is really helpful. Could you recommend any specific chapters from I.A. Maron that I should focus on first?

Start with Chapter 5 (Indefinite Integrals) and Chapter 6 (Definite Integrals). Focus on problems 1-50 in each chapter first, then move to advanced ones.

This is gold! Saving this for my revision. The trigonometric substitution patterns are exactly what I needed.

I had similar struggles last year! What really helped me was:
1. Making formula sheets for each type of integration
2. Solving previous year questions topic-wise
3. Joining a study group where we discussed problems
Also, don't skip the basics. Sometimes going back to NCERT helps build intuition.
